Owner / CEO: Chad Haas

Originally from Chicago, Chad Haas is a proud family man.   He and his wife Beth are proud parents of 3 beautiful girls. Chad has lived in several areas of the country and settled in Arizona in 2003. As a successful entrepreneur, Chad has held many positions in the business world, from communications engineering to child safety.  Creating Arizona Child Proofers was the latest product of his passion and commitment to child safety, and has helped countless families across the valley.

Chad is currently a CrossFit Level 1 trainer. He has been involved in fitness at many levels over his life. He has previously held a NASM Personal Trainer certification and actively trained individuals and taught group classes at that time. Chad has found enjoyment and stress release in various martial arts over the years.  He began in boxing and has also fought and trained in Kickboxing and Ju-Jitsu. He has seen the value of CrossFit’s intense workouts for those training in any form of MMA or boxing.

Chad’s passion for protecting children hasn’t stopped, since selling Arizona Child Proofers he has realized that protecting kids doesn’t just mean from injury and accidents. Chad will be attending certifications in the near future that will allow us to launch Competitive Kidz.  Competitive Kidz will be aimed at establishing a healthy lifestyle early, creating good habits and an enjoyment of activity that will last a lifetime.

Owner / Chief Executive Trainer: Jason Speck

Jason is originally from a small town in upstate New York. When he left NY he moved to Las Vegas and began personal training full time. Jason has lived in Arizona for 2 years now, and loves it. He has over 4 years of training experience, and holds 8 nationally recognized certifications in Personal Training, Diet and Nutrition, and Coaching. He was one of 21 trainers selected, out of a group of over 4000 trainers, to travel to Beijing and work in the USOC High Performance Training Center during the 2008 Olympic Games. He did choose to pass on this opportunity in order to open Competitive Fitness but still considers it quite an honor.

Jason worked for the New York State Department of Corrections in a men’s maximum security prison for 5 years.  He understands the demands and stresses facing Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, Soldiers, and all service personnel. He knows all too well that having one of these jobs means that you are not guaranteed to come home at night. He is dedicated to seeing that you are well prepared for whatever you may face during your shift, in hopes that you can fulfill the promise to your family to return home safe every night.

Jason maintains an athletic lifestyle.  Sports range from cycling, soccer and swimming during his youth, to triathlons and marathons in recent years. Athletic achievements include: 3rd Place finish Toughest Competitor Alive 2003 NYS Law Enforcement Olympics, multiple medals during 2002 NYS Dept of Corrections Olympics, and various triathlons, including the 2007 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.

Jason had the opportunity to work in the classic “big box” gym.  He trained moms, dads, athletes, morbidly obese, elderly, some local “Biggest Losers”, and everyone in between. During his time in the “big box” gym he noticed some key things missing. The lack of member focus is why he decided to open Competitive Fitness.  He realized that people often don’t make the most of their time at the gym.  It is not a lack of motivation that causes people to not succeed, but the lack of knowledge and help.  A personal goal is more easily achieved when done in a caring and supportive community. Competitive Fitness is that community.

Certified Personal Trainer: Sally Nolan

Sally grew up in Ponca City, OK, and has been in Arizona for 8 years.  She is a proud mother of 2 kids. Sally enjoys hiking and bowling in her free time.

Sally understands the demands of motherhood, raising a family, and how easy it is for moms to forget about themselves. She realizes that some moms even feel guilty about taking personal time. Having battled these feelings herself and her own weight issues, she is proud to say that she has recently lost over 70lbs. She wants to let people know that if she can do it, anybody can. She is focused on helping people reach their goals, whatever they may be. It is for that reason that she has chosen to become a trainer at Competitive Fitness.

She is a Certified Personal Trainer through AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America), Apex, and is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer.
